The analyst

Independent research, without the noise.

I am Vikas Garg, a Research Analyst registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India under Registration No. INH000029388, working out of Jaipur, Rajasthan.

My work is simple to describe and deliberately narrow: study listed companies and their price behaviour, form a view that can be defended with evidence, and put that view in writing — with the reasoning, the risk and the time horizon stated openly. Nothing is sold on excitement, and nothing is dressed up as a certainty.

I am not affiliated with any broker, distributor or other intermediary, and I receive no brokerage, commission or referral consideration from anyone. That matters, because it means a recommendation exists only when the research supports it — not because someone else is paying for it to exist.

Research services are provided strictly as research. I do not handle your money or your securities, I do not trade on your behalf, and I never ask for access to your trading, demat or bank account.

How the research is done

Stock market research, in four passes

Every idea goes through the same four steps, in the same order. A view that cannot survive all four does not get published.

01

The market

Start with the tape. Where the index and the sector sit in their own cycle, where money is moving, and what the calendar holds — because the best business in the market can still be the wrong position this month.

02

The business

Then the company itself: filings, results, margins, debt, promoter holding and what the valuation already assumes. Published sources only — no tips, no channels, no borrowed conviction.

03

The chart

Price decides when the market is willing to agree with you. Trend, volume and the levels that define the trade — entry, stop-loss and target, so the risk is a number rather than a feeling.

04

The call

Only then a written recommendation — with the horizon, the counter-argument, and the level at which the idea is simply wrong. Reviewed as the facts change, and said plainly when a view is closed.

Know before you subscribe

What a Research Analyst can and cannot do

Under the SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014 the boundaries are set by law — not by preference. Here they are, plainly.

I can

Activities permitted to a registered Research Analyst.

  • Prepare and publish research reports on listed securities.
  • Make buy / sell / hold recommendations on securities.
  • Give price targets and a defined time horizon.
  • Offer an opinion on public offers — IPO, FPO, offer for sale, buy-back, takeover, delisting.
  • Recommend a model portfolio, disclosed true-to-label with its benchmark and rebalancing rules.
  • Provide trading calls, including intraday and positional setups.
  • Use Artificial Intelligence tools in the course of producing research — disclosed to you upfront.

The scope of “securities” is as defined in section 2(h) of the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956.

I cannot

Hard limits. If anyone claiming to be an RA offers you these, walk away.

  • Execute any trade — buy or sell — on your behalf. Never give an RA access to your trading account.
  • Ask for your login credentials or OTP for your trading, demat or bank account.
  • Promise, guarantee or assure returns, profits, or a risk-free investment.
  • Offer assured-return schemes, prize money, leagues, contests or gifts.
  • Accept fees in cash, or charge more than ₹1,51,000 per annum per family (individual / HUF clients).
  • Handle or hold your funds or securities at any point.
  • Claim to be “best”, “No. 1” or “top rated”, or advertise past performance.

The full Do’s and Don’ts for investors are published in the Compliance section below.

Research services

What you actually receive

All of it is research. You place your own trades, in your own account, at your own discretion.

Equity research reports

Written notes on listed companies — the business, the numbers, the valuation, and what would have to be true for the view to work.

  • Rationale and key assumptions
  • Recommendation, price target and horizon
  • Risks that would invalidate the call

Technical & positional setups

Chart-based ideas with the level that defines the trade, for those who work to a shorter horizon.

  • Entry zone, stop-loss and target
  • Time frame stated on every idea
  • Follow-up when the view changes

Market perspective notes

Periodic commentary on the index, sectors and events that matter — context, not noise.

  • Index and sector positioning
  • Results season and policy read-through
  • What is being watched next

Fees, and how they are charged

Equity Research 6,000per quarter

Research reports, positional setups and market perspective notes — the whole of the service described above, billed quarterly in advance. That is ₹24,000 a year, well within the SEBI ceiling of ₹1,51,000 per annum per family. Taxes are charged as applicable.

Within the SEBI cap

Fees for individual and HUF clients do not exceed ₹1,51,000 per annum per family, the maximum permitted under the SEBI Master Circular for Research Analysts.

Never in cash

Payment is accepted only by banking channels — to the Research Analyst’s own account. No cash, and no payment to any third party or individual.

Stated up front

The applicable fee, billing period and refund terms are set out in the terms and conditions shared before onboarding, and in the Most Important Terms and Conditions.

No performance fee

Fees are for research services. There is no profit-sharing, no performance-linked charge and no assurance of returns of any kind.

Billing period, refund terms and the full fee schedule are set out in the terms and conditions shared before onboarding. Questions? Write to vikasgargvikky@gmail.com.

How it works

Onboarding, in four steps

Nothing starts until the paperwork SEBI requires is complete — that protects you as much as it does me.

  1. 1

    Enquiry

Tell me what you invest in and over what horizon. If what you need is outside the scope of a Research Analyst, I will say so at this stage.

  2. 2

    KYC & risk profiling

KYC is completed for every fee-paying client, along with the assessment required before research services are provided.

  3. 3

    Terms & MITC

The terms and conditions of research services, including the Most Important Terms and Conditions, are shared and accepted in writing.

  4. 4

    Research delivery

Fees are paid through banking channels, and research is delivered to you within the timelines set out in the terms.

Questions

Asked often, answered plainly

Will you manage my money or place trades for me?

No. A Research Analyst publishes research and recommendations. I never handle your funds or securities, never place a trade for you, and never ask for your trading, demat or bank login or OTP.

Do you guarantee returns?

No, and nobody registered with SEBI is permitted to. Every research view carries risk, including the risk of loss. Past performance is not indicative of future results.

How much does the research service cost?

Equity Research is ₹6,000 per quarter (₹24,000 a year), plus taxes as applicable. SEBI caps what any Research Analyst may charge an individual or HUF client at ₹1,51,000 per annum per family across all research services, so this sits well inside that ceiling. Fees are never accepted in cash.

How do I pay?

Only through banking channels, to the Research Analyst’s own bank account. Never pay any third party, employee or individual on my behalf, and never pay in cash.

What do I get in a research report?

The recommendation, the reasoning behind it, the price target where one is given, the time horizon, and the risks that would make the view wrong.

Do you use AI to produce research?

Artificial Intelligence tools may be used in the course of producing research. The extent of that use is disclosed to clients, and responsibility for every published view remains entirely mine.

What if I have a complaint?

Write to me first — the grievance mechanism, timelines and escalation matrix are published in the Compliance section below. If you are not satisfied, you may escalate to SEBI SCORES and then to the SMART ODR platform.

How do I check that this registration is genuine?

Search for registration number INH000029388 in the Research Analyst list on the SEBI website. Always verify a registration independently before paying anyone.
